BTHS Red Cross Club Constitution
As the BTHS Red Cross Club, our mission is to motivate students to volunteer and help our community. We provide group volunteer events. Some of these events will be held at the Red Cross Headquarters and others will be held through other organizations. We hope to offer a variety of events to make many people interested in joining.
Our long term goal is to make members understand how important it is to volunteer and help our community. By the end of the year, we hope they gain a sense of belonging in our club and a sense of accomplishment. We also want them to decide to continue being a Red Cross volunteer after the school year ends.
The process for selecting the club’s governing officials will be as followed:
1. Members will fill out an application. They will write their basic information, which position they want, and answer questions on the application.
2. We will hold interviews. We will ask them questions about what they would to do make the club better and why we should choose them for the position.
3. We choose the officials. We will base this decision on a variety of factors: dedication to the club throughout the year, amount of points in the club, organization, self confidence, GPA, amount of free time (APs, internships, jobs, and other clubs can cause neglect to the club), and ideas on making the club better.
The criteria for how members are awarded will be as followed:
1. We use a point system to award service credits for one year.
2. 200 points = 16 service credits
150 points = 12 service credits
125 points = 10 service credits
100 points = 8 service credits
75 points = 6 service credits
50 points = 4 service credits
25 points = 2 service credits
3. Meetings will be every other week. Members are allowed one freebie per semester when missing a meeting. If members miss any meetings after their first one, five points will be deducted. Absences and NHS members who happen to have to go to a meeting on the same day are excused.
4. Most events will be 15-30 points.
a. If any member signs up for an event, but decides to not go without letting us know at least one day before the day of the event, no points will be given at all and ten points will be deducted.
b. If any member signs up for an event and doesn’t work, only partial points will be given. This will depend on what the event and action is.
c. If any member shows up more than fifteen minutes late for an event, the points for the event will be given and then five points will be deducted.
5. We offer points in other ways too (making baked goods for certain events, T-shirt designs, donations, etc.), but usually only five points.
6. Volunteer hours will be given through the Red Cross at the end of the year.
