As more people rely on the Red Cross for help, the need for compassionate volunteers has never been greater. From helping people effected by disasters, like home fires and floods, to supporting the collection of lifesaving blood, you can make a difference. There are many ways you can help neighbors in need through our most-needed positions:
DCS Health Services Service Associate
During large disasters, you can use your professional skills as a licensed healthcare provider to deliver hands-on care and education to disaster-affected clients. The work setting is generally in emergency shelters or on outreach teams in the community.
DCS Mental Health Service Associate
Listen to and talk with disaster-impacted clients about their experiences, stress levels and coping skills. Assess the reactions, risk factors and resilience factors of disaster-impacted clients. Provide Psychological First Aid and psychoeducation as appropriate. Provide targeted interventions as needed, including crisis intervention and community referrals
Disaster Action Team Service Associate
Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local. DAT Specialists provide support to help families recover.
Biomedical Services Blood Transportation Specialist
As a Blood Services Transportation Specialist, you will be a hero by delivering life-saving blood donations to local hospitals, directly helping patients in need. Using our user-friendly mobile app, you can easily choose times that work for you (both scheduled or on-demand) and make deliveries ensuring that blood, platelets, and other critical supplies get to the hospital swiftly. You’ll be a vital part of our Regional Biomedical Services team, making a tangible impact every day. Every trip you make saves lives. Be the First Step in a Lifesaving Journey. As a Volunteer Blood Donor Ambassador, you’ll make every donor feel welcome and appreciated from start to finish. Greet donors with warmth, guide them through check-in, and express sincere thanks for their generous gift. You’ll be an essential part of team—each shift you take helps deliver hope and save lives.
