Support Disaster Response - No Matter How Big or How Small

Whether you have a few hours a week or can commit to a 2 week deployment (expenses paid!), the Red Cross needs volunteers to help those who are impacted by disasters. Consider one of the opportunities below as a way to stay active and engage in your community.

* Disaster Action Team (DAT) - Respond as a team to provide immediate support to clients affected by home fires and other disasters

This position supports the Regional Disaster Services department. Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. Disaster Action Team (DAT) Specialists respond to local disasters and provide immediate compassion and care to clients.

* Disaster Caseworker

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. The Recovery Services Client Care Program allows the Red Cross to rapidly meet disaster-caused needs by enabling clients to apply and receive financial assistance and/or community resources. The Client Care Program Service Associate supports the recovery of disaster affected individuals, households, and communities by providing referrals, advocacy, and financial assistance through RC Care (case management system).

* Shelter Volunteer

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. The purpose of this position is to perform Mass Care readiness and capacity building activities needed to enable effective service delivery (in a disaster response).
