Volunteers carry out 90% of the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. Whether helping one displaced family or thousands, providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran, or teaching others how to respond in emergencies, it’s through the efforts of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things. The Red Cross responds to an emergency every 8 minutes, and our vital work is only possible because of people like you.

*Blood Drive Volunteer - Orange County - Central

As a volunteer donor ambassador, you’ll ensure every blood donor has a wonderful experience from start to finish. Greet donors with a warm smile, assist them with checking in, and express heartfelt thanks for their generous donation. You’ll be a key part of our Biomedical Services team, making a real difference every day. Each shift you take helps save lives. While this position requires that volunteers speak English, in some locations the role may place a special emphasis on engaging with donors whose preferred language is Spanish. (NOTE: this is not a translator role)

SAF: Community Outreach Volunteer - Orange County

This position supports the regional Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) department. This opportunity requires participation in in-person activities and/or performing work in an American Red Cross facility. This position supports the American Red Cross team to engage, educate and champion SAF regional programs available to military and veteran communities and military partners.

*Restoring Family Links Outreach Volunteer

The purpose of this position is to expand Restoring Family Links (RFL) delivery service to clients who have been separated from family members in other countries due to armed conflict, migration, disasters, or other humanitarian emergencies. Volunteers are responsible for supporting and developing the outreach strategy, expanding community awareness and resources, developing new contacts and volunteers and effectively serving all clients and partners. Volunteers will demonstrate commitment and understanding of the Fundamental Principals of the Red Cross international network.

*Disaster Shelter Worker - Orange County

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department. The Sheltering (SH) Service Associate (SA) is a temporary position assigned to work in person in a Red Cross shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event. Sheltering Service Associates complete tasks necessary for shelter operations and interacts with clients to ensure their needs are met. Sheltering Service Associates support the day-to-day activities within a shelter, which can include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information or other areas within a shelter.

Disaster Feeding Team

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. The role of Feeding Service Associate is to serve as a member of a temporary work unit on a disaster relief operation to successfully complete their assigned areas of responsibility on a disaster relief operation. They ensure food safety and proper food service in a variety of work locations while supervising workers throughout the cycle of the disaster.

*Disaster Action Team - Orange County

This position supports the Regional Disaster Services department. Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. Disaster Action Team (DAT) Specialists respond to local disasters and provide immediate compassion and care to clients.
