As a Recognition and Appreciation lead, you’ll design and implement both formal and informal recognition programs, ensuring appreciation is woven into every aspect of engagement. You’ll collaborate across departments to make recognition a priority and create a culture where every contributor feels valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Celebrate Contributions: Promote participation in formal recognition programs and ensure appreciation is a visible priority.
  • Lead with Inclusion: Contributes to One Red Cross Volunteer Committee to promote recognition activities across the Red Cross Organization.
  • Create Meaningful Moments: Design and implement both informal and formal appreciation programs that make volunteers feel valued.
  • Support Supervisors: Partner with engagement leads to provide tips, tools, and reminders for recognizing volunteers in impactful ways.
  • Build a Recognition Culture: Reinforce the importance of volunteer appreciation every day to foster a positive, supportive environment.
  • Empower Teams: Lead and support volunteers to successfully implement the regional recognition plan.
  • Serve as an Expert: Act as a go-to resource for best practices in formal and informal recognition strategies.

Qualifications

  • Mission-Driven: You’re passionate about the Red Cross mission and programs.
  • Proven Leader: Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit or for-profit settings.
  • Culturally Inclusive: Skilled at engaging diverse audiences with sensitivity and respect.
  • Knowledgeable: Familiar with Red Cross services, operations, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Collaborative & Independent: Comfortable working both on your own and as part of a team.
  • Skilled & Strategic: Bring relevant management, technical, or operational expertise to the role.
  • Relationship Builder: Able to work effectively with staff partners, board members, senior leadership, and volunteers.
  • Volunteer Advocate: Understand the value of volunteers and lead efforts to ensure they have a rewarding experience.

Time Commitment

Approximately 2 hours per month, working remotely and on-site. Greater commitment of time during the annual recognition time period.
