Key Responsibilities

  • Fuel the Mission with People Power: Help design and implement creative recruitment strategies that bring passionate volunteers into every line of service.
  • Connect Talent to Purpose: Recruit volunteers for diverse roles across the organization, ensuring every skill finds its place in the mission.
  • Partner for Impact: Collaborate with the Volunteer Management team to identify priority needs and target recruitment efforts where they matter most.
  • Grow the Volunteer Family: Proactively engage new volunteers for general and specialized opportunities—and inspire current volunteers to step into leadership roles.
  • Be the Voice in the Community: Research outreach events, connect with local groups, and schedule presentations that spark interest and action.
  • Lead the Charge at Events: Plan and host recruitment events that welcome new faces and strengthen community ties.
  • Spread the Word: Promote volunteer opportunities at community gatherings and through creative marketing for open-call events.

Qualifications

  • Mission-Driven Connector: You love bringing people together for a cause that matters.
  • Outgoing & Engaging: Comfortable speaking with individuals and groups, both in person and virtually.
  • Creative & Strategic: You think outside the box to attract diverse volunteers and meet recruitment goals.
  • Organized & Reliable: Able to manage multiple outreach efforts and follow through on commitments.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using email, social media, and online tools to promote opportunities.
  • Team Player: You collaborate well with staff and volunteers to make recruitment successful.

Time Commitment

2-4 hours per quarter, as event frequency varies. 

Development Opportunities

The Volunteer Services Volunteer Recruitment Member receives support, guidance, and encouragement from the Volunteer Services Team. He or she has access to relevant learning opportunities and materials that prepare for and support this role.

Length of Appointment

Six months, renewable

Partners with Volunteer Services Team, business lines, department supervisors, community groups and community leaders

Training

  • Orientation to the American Red Cross
  • Volunteer Recruitment Training Curriculum
  • On-the-job training as needed
