DCS: Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer Trainee

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. Initial position until all required training and experience are completed to obtain the steady-state position description which is to be reflected on the vacant Volunteer Needs Assessment positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete requirements for chosen steady-state position in 90 days.
  • Continue engagement activities in the chapter/region. Engagement could include:
    • Service Delivery e.g. participation in HFC event
    • Training
    • Attendance at meetings
    • Other activities as designated by region
  • Communicate progress and roadblocks to supervisor.

Qualifications

Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities.

None for Trainee position. Trainee completes requirements for placement into steady-state position.

Training

None for Trainee position. Trainee completes training required for steady-state position.

Development Opportunities

Steady-state Team Member, Team Leader, Chapter Coordinator, and Regional Lead positions.

Length of Appointment

Ideally people will take all necesary training within 90 days.

Time Commitment

Ideally, at least one 6 hour shift per week.
