At community events, the Community Engagement Volunteer is stationed at information tables representing the American Red Cross by providing information on the mission along with brochures on programs and services.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Attending community events including volunteer recruitment fairs, street fairs, senior fairs, health fairs, and similar public events where the American Red Cross has been asked to provide/distribute information.
  • Represent the Red Cross in a professional and respectful manner while answering questions from the public attending events.
  • Be prepared to speak publicly before an audience, if asked, about services and programs provided by the Red Cross.
  • Report information post-event to Community Relations department using the Community Engagement Event feedback form.

Qualifications

  • Have a basic working knowledge of, or be willing to learn, Red Cross services.
  • Comfortable in crowd settings that may include children, youth, people with disabilities, seniors.
  • Comfortable with public speaking in a variety of settings to audiences of varying sizes.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and a courteous and friendly demeanor.
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods in indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Able to lift minor boxes of materials.
  • Should be able to take public transportation to events.
  • Minimum 2 (6) hour shifts per month

Time Commitment

4-6 hours per event, not including travel time, with availability to support evening and weekend events.

Length of Appointment

1 year, renewable

Reports to Senior Regional Director, Community Relations and Manager, Community Relations.
