This unpaid internship position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Fundraising Department (FD), specifically, the Corporate Fundraising team. Explore passion for nonprofit work by joining Fundraising Programs and Segment Strategy team at the American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, DC. As part of the team, you will learn about the nonprofit field, fundraising, business, and marketing and have an opportunity to experience our lifesaving mission. This is a virtual internship opportunity for 20 hours a week during the summer term.

Day to day projects and tasks may include:
Research and Recommendations on Fundraising Trends:
- Research and review external sources and studies
- Conduct competitive analysis
- Identify industries likely to support the Red Cross and compile market analysis
- Gather feedback from Red Cross regions and internal stakeholders
- Identify trends, best practices and challenges
- Present recommendations and update source documents
Employee Engagement
- Help scope out new employee engagement volunteer opportunities
- Gather content to create donor facing materials and internal SOPs
- Create rapid learn and other training materials
Microsite Support:
- Support steady-state and episodic disaster microsites (corporate online giving platform)
- Receive cross-training on the microsite platform process to serve as a back- up for microsite and fundraiser support during times of disaster.
- Analyze high and low- performing sites and offer recommendations for improvement
Training
- Help manage team training calendar
- Assist in building and recording program trainings and rapid learns Marketing materials and case studies
- Evaluate corporate fundraising materials on The Exchange (Red Cross intranet)
- Help revise/update materials and develop new resources
- Compile case studies and best practices on corporate fundraising
In-Kind fundraising
- Take In-Kind at the Red Cross 101 trainings
- Help customize and deliver future trainings
- Answer public inquiries and create FAQs
- Conduct prospect research
- Create email templates and populate trackers
Biomedical Services Fundraising
- Conduct internal and external research on fundraising trends for health services
Qualifications
Required:
- Advanced experience with Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- Exceptional research skills, both qualitative and quantitative
- Analytical skills, ability to spot trends, identify issues, competitive analysis experience
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
- Current enrollment in a college/university program focusing on business or nonprofit management (undergraduate junior or senior/graduate student preferred)
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and across leadership levels
- Resume submission required
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
Preferred:
- Interest in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, finance, public health, and/or fundraising.

Development Opportunities
- This position gives the volunteer a glimpse into fundraising for a major non-profit and will expose them to fundraising program management when considering future career paths, additionally there will be an opportunity to shadow the team's program managers.
- We are committed to professional development and ensure each intern has a variety of projects to build their resume.
Length of Appointment
3 months (June through August 2024)
Time Commitment
Minimum 20 hours per week during 8am to 6pm ET business hours preferred. Flexible days/times if intern has other employment or coursework.
