This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) department. The Sustainability Micro-Investments Program Leader will partner with the Director Sustainability & ESG Programs and other program and project leaders to lead and coordinate the Red Cross Sustainability Micro-Investments Program. In partnership with the Director, this position will be responsible for design, implementation, tracking and reporting of Red Cross micro-investments - internal micro-grants - that enable local Red Cross units and other business units to apply for and receive grants to improve their environmental sustainability performance. The Sustainability Micro-Investments Program Leader may also provide support to other ESG and Sustainability initiatives, including sustainability pilot programs and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities
The Sustainability Micro-Investments Program Leader will:
- Partner with sustainability program leaders to identify and plan a sample selection of suitable environmental sustainability micro-investment grants for regional teams and business units to apply for.
- Collect and review micro-investment grant applications for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure regional leadership teams approve micro-investment grant submissions.
- Review proposals and budgets for completeness and accuracy and resolve questions/issues.
- Present sustainability team with eligible micro-investment proposals with recommendations for approval.
- Communicate approval status to business unit leaders and grantees.
- Track & monitor progress towards budget.
- Identify additional staffing needs to support the micro-investments program, recruit, engage and supervise volunteers and employees on stretch assignments to support the program.
- Partner with ESG and Sustainability team members, Communications and Marketing staff and other internal partners to develop and distribute communications related to the micro-investments program.
- Coordinate, lead and/or participate in work groups, forums, focus groups, presentations and events (primarily virtual) and other gatherings of Red Cross volunteers and employees, focused on the micro-investments program.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong passion for sustainability, climate change and/or ESG programs.
- Demonstrated experience in program or project management and administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exemplary organizational and administrative skills.
- Previous experience preparing, presenting, and discussing information and materials in groups of various sizes.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading cross-functional projects of varying complexity across a geographically dispersed organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership ability.
- Facility with remote collaboration tools including MS Teams or similar.
- Strong MS Office skills, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
Preferred:
- Experience establishing a corporate sustainability program.
- Experience with volunteer supervision or management.
- Knowledge of and experience in sustainability, climate change and/or ESG programs.
- Degree in business, sustainability, environmental science, public administration or other relevant field.
