This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services Response & Recovery department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The International Imminent Disaster Early Action (IDEA) Program Volunteer Partner role will serve as thought partner and strategic support to the Anticipatory Action Program Manager. Key Responsibilities

  • Help set direction and strategic vision for American Red Cross Anticipatory Action program.
  • Help identify workforce needs, including opportunities to engage volunteers in program.
  • Ensure workplan and timeline created for each project phase.
  • Support onboarding of any program workforce, including any project-based volunteer
  • Help identify any program risks, issues, or dependencies and brainstorm solutions to mitigate challenges/obstacles.
  • Help lead program continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, including those with partner national society and/or International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) counterparts.
  • Assist with managing volunteer workforce.
  • Assist with donor relations and outreach.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually.
  • Experience in program and project management
  • Experience working in and managing a matrixed team.
  • Experience with one of the following: Anticipatory Action, Disaster Risk Reduction, community and/or organizational Preparedness, community and/or organizational Resiliency
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders across global time zones.
  • Good time management skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Creative and strategic thinking
  • Experience communicating complex ideas to people with various levels of understanding.
  • Experience helping others meet their objectives and deliverables.
  • Forward-thinking mindset, strategic experience, and planning skills
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
