NHQ:ISD-OPS: Volunteer Partner, Business Operations

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Business Operations (OPS) team. This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home) position. The volunteer partner to Business Operations manager will support in the planning, organizing, and execution of operational tasks to ensure smooth running of the business. This position will be directly involved in all Continuous Improvement initiatives like process automation, process documentation and implementation of general best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project for developing, implementing, and maintaining operational policies and procedures, including but not limited to performance evaluation, merit, hiring of international contractors, among others.
  • Support the management of the company's budget and financial resources
  • Provide administrative support to the Business Operations Manager
  • Help coordinate and manage communication with stakeholders
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting for yearly and quarterly surveys.
  • Assist in HR related tasks such as onboarding and employee records maintenance
  • Provide other support as required by the Business Operations Manager

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a remote/virtual environment
  • At least 3 years’ experience in business operations management
  • Experience creating pivot tables and other analysis functions with Excel or G sheets
  • Excellent skills in written and verbal communications
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Experience navigating and reconciling competing priorities of stakeholders
  • Ability to engage, influence and negotiate with different stakeholders
  • Passion for the Red Cross mission and a commitment to Red Cross values
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with Project Management and / or Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Team and relationship-building, talent management, and succession planning skills
  • A strong understanding and experience of working in large/matrixed organizations

 

Training

  • Orientation to the American Red Cross
  • Orientation to International Services and Service to the Armed Forces

Length of Appointment

1 year, renewable

Time Commitment

8-10 hours per week (with at least 1 hour per week available between 7am – 4pm CT and 1 hour every other week between 8 – 10 pm or 6 – 8 am CT)
