NHQ:ISD - R&R - IFRC Copy Editor [Short Term Project]
This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services Response & Recovery (R&R) department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. This short-term project role will perform copyediting for the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) Emergency Response Unit (ERU) standard operating procedures (SOPs) and annexes.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and revise content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
- Ensure correct tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure of content.
- Recommend and enhance document formatting and design.
- Work with original authors to maintain meaning and context of writing.
- Help choose supporting material, including graphs, images, and charts to complement written pieces
Qualifications
Required:
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Writing, copy editing, and proofreading experience
- Demonstrated ability working with multiple authors
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders, many of whom speak multiple languages
- Experience copy editing standard operating procedures, doctrine organizational policies
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- A keen eye for detail and quality writing
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within timelines and firm deadlines
- Submission of resume
- Submission of at least two copyedited work samples
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
Preferred:
- Experience with document design and digitization
