This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Training Services (TS) department, specifically the Lifesaving Awards Program (LSA). This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity.
The LSA awards individuals who have used their American Red Cross training and skills to save or sustain life. The Spanish Translator / Proofreader Volunteer Liaison will accurately translate written or spoken material from one language to another.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive and translate award nomination forms, translate by reading or listening to material in one language and converting it into a second language, preserving the original meaning.
- Communicate with public and Red Cross employees and volunteers to verify required information and request additional information if necessary.
- Create and write Lifesaving Award certificates and citations.
- Write bi-lingual internal and external communications.
- Refer to translation software for efficiency and consistency.
- Consult with subject matter experts and others to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately.
Qualifications
Required:
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually.
- Proficient in Spanish and English writing, editing, and speaking.
- Note: A Spanish proficiency test must be completed as a part of the interview process for this position.
- Experience in translating materials between Spanish and English (including adjusting to speakers with diverse voices speaking rapidly).
- Exceptional proofreading, grammar, and writing skills in both Spanish and English.
- Experience in writing bi-lingual internal and external communications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to identify errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, style, etc.
- Customer service experience.
- Time management skills.
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
Preferred:
- Interviewing experience
- High school diploma or equivalent life experience
Training
- Orientation to American Red Cross
- Onsite training provided.
