This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Volunteer Services (VS) Team. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity.
The focus of the role is to respond to inquiries from Red Cross staff and volunteers who deployed on 9/11.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide customer service, guidance and empathy to those making inquiries regarding verification of 9/11 voluntary service.
- Respond via email and phone to victims, their family members and the law firms representing them.
- Given the ramifications of these inquiries and the personal nature of the correspondence, communicating clearly by phone and in writing is critical.
- Review spreadsheets and databases to verify volunteer service
- Provide letters of certification (using standardized templates) and maintain correspondence with volunteers, law firms representing volunteers, and the Department of Justice.
- Confidentiality is key when interacting with inquiries received.
Qualifications
Required:
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail & strong administrative skills
- Experience providing support related to personal and confidential matters
- Experience with programs that include specific guidelines for eligibility, making assessments and determining the course of action
- Ability to remain calm, empathetic and patient, even if the inquirer is distressed or upset.
- Proficiency with MS Office for Excel, Word and Outlook
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a paralegal, administrative assistant or caseworker
