This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Services to the Armed Forces (SAF) department, specifically the Military Veteran Caregiver Network (MVCN). This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity.
The MVCN Caregiver Lead Facilitator will facilitate virtual support groups and chats. They will serve as the technology host on Zoom and Slack during MVCN events, groups, and chats as well as follow up with caregiver resources and questions.

Key Responsibilities
The MVCN Caregiver Lead Facilitator will be responsible for leading peer support groups on Zoom and caregiver chats on Slack in addition to serving as tech host for these and other MVCN virtual events. Other duties include facilitating groups and chats in the event of a volunteer absence, sending follow-up emails, providing resources, answering caregiver questions, and verifying caregiver opt-ins to join the MVCN Online Community. The Caregiver Lead Facilitator will engage and connect with caregivers to provide peer support during MVCN peer support groups and will be responsible for the facilitation/co-facilitation of online/in-person meetings. This can include managing the logistics of the peer support meetings and collaborating with host organizations. During MVCN Caregiver Chat they will be responsible for the facilitation/co-facilitation of online caregiver chat.
Meeting responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and guiding volunteer facilitators
- Group/Chat facilitation: welcoming caregivers, monitoring chat, 10 min setup/debrief, etc.
- Tracking resources shared for follow up email
- Work with MVCN Caregiver Lead Facilitator (vol.)
- Communication with MVCN Team
Qualifications
To serve as a MVCN Lead Facilitator, candidates must:
Have experience providing hands on care in a non professional capacity that is unpaid to a military service member or veteran
OR
If candidate is a military veteran, experience providing hands on care to another person in a non professional capacity that is unpaid.
This would include providing care and support to a family member or friend who has a mental or physical health disability due to wounds, illness, injury or aging.
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office (including Outlook), Zoom and Slack programs.
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
Preferred:
- Experience with DoD, VA, and veterans service organizations
Training
Training will be provided as part of the onboarding process for the position and will include a thorough review of the MVCN Online Community, our mission, population served, community needs, technology required, and MVCN training procedures.

Time Commitment
5-10 hours per week (two groups/chats per week, groups and chats last one hour) - Will include weekdays and weeknights - Must be available 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after groups and chats
