NHQ:Finance - Supply Management Procurement - Sustainability Volunteer

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Supply Management department. This is a remote (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission. Do you have a passion for sustainability? We are seeking volunteers with procurement and/or sustainability experience to support the American Red Cross. Volunteers will conduct market research and track progress data.

Remote/Virtual Volunteer Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with supply base surveys. Collect, analyze, and report data received from suppliers.
  • Assist with supply base monitoring (via Resilinc). Review and flag any potential concerns.
  • Market research for sustainable products and service
  • Product/service analysis from sustainability standpoint (carbon footprint calculation, TCO analysis)
  • Develop a system for tracking sustainability progress in supply management
  • Assist with quarterly/annual reporting

 

Qualifications

Required:

We are searching for the following individual:

  • Highly motivated to make an impact on Sustainability 
  • Possesses strong research and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and communicate information with attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, unstructured environment. 
  • Demonstrates strong skills in Excel or other data analysis tools. 
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn new information and apply it for the benefit of the organization. 
  • Has strong communication skills. 
  • Resume required. 
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

 

Preferred:

Power BI, Tableau or similar data analytic program experience

Training

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • Supply Management will provide job specific training on systems and processes

 

Development Opportunities

Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist the American Red Cross Supply Management with procurement sustainability.

Length of Appointment

A minimum commitment of 6 months, renewable as mutually agreed.

Time Commitment

As few as 3-5 hours per week based on team need and as determined by volunteer and supervisor
