NHQ:SAF - OPS - Program Management - Deployment Mobile Team Mentor

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Service to the Armed Forces department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. This position supports the deployment team mobile staff as a mentor. The SAF Program Management department works to coordinate the volunteers and staff who deploy overseas in support of Service to the Armed Forces work. The work of this volunteer will primarily focus on the team that is deploying and support the existing mentorship program. American Red Cross volunteer leaders work to ensure the delivery of a variety of Red Cross programs and services to the military community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support the Red Cross mission
  • Provide support to the mobile deployment team including providing a mentor relationship to staff, acting as a knowledge expert on the deployment structure, providing additional support when requested
  • Partners with SAF leadership to ensure all services are being met in the community
  • Promote Red Cross programs and activities
  • Attend meetings
  • Create and maintain mentor relationships
  • Create and maintain the ongoing mentorship programs/meetings/resources to support the mobile deployed teams

Qualifications

Required:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually Ability to work effectively with a team
  • Ability to recruit and involve volunteers
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Basic computer skills and good presentation skills
  • Supervisory skills; ability to resolve local volunteer issues
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

 

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Mobile staff member
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of the Mobile Deployment Team
  • Knowledge of military protocol and culture
  • Knowledge of community resources

Training

  • Orientation to the American Red Cross
  • Volunteer Connection Orientation
  • Computer, safety, and security training (if required)
  • Supervisory/management training
  • Department training when applicable

Development Opportunities

Attend workshops as applicable to position with local community agencies and any applicable Red Cross training or meetings. Gain leadership, management, and on-the-job experience.
