This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Core Donor Fundraising department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Utilizing personal social media accounts, volunteers will aid in Facebook group management and community creation to help generate and boost Facebook based fundraising. Providing this community management will help the Red Cross social fundraising team continue to meet donors where they are at and educate otherwise un-reachable Red Cross supporters.

Key Responsibilities

Represent the American Red Cross in Spring Dog Walking Facebook Challenge by posting personal content of participation (i.e., photo of walking dog, photo of walking in general, screengrab of steps with fitness tracker).

1) Contribute to and aid in the creation of a positive and encouraging digital experience for participants in the group by addressing concerns quickly, commenting on participant posts in a positive manner, removing any scam posts from the group, etc.

2) Respond to comments and/or questions within the Facebook Challenge group such as

  • How do I log miles,
  • Is this a real challenge?
  • Do I have to have a dog?
  • Do I have to fundraise?
  • I have not received my premium item yet, etc.

Qualifications

Required:

Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually

Have a Facebook Profile

Strong customer service and writing skills

Preferred:

Dog you can walk weekly for content

Willingness to share personal challenge achievements (share mile updates)

Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

Development Opportunities

Social media usage and knowledge expansion Volunteer experience with the Red Cross Social and digital marketing fundraising experience Virtual athletic event exposure.

Length of Appointment

8-week commitment Starting February 10th and ending April 5, 2023 Volunteers should be willing to commit to 1 day a week for 8 weeks. This 1 day will be 1-2 hours of checking in on the Facebook group.

Time Commitment

Volunteers will sign up for 1 day a week for 8 weeks starting February 10th to monitor the Facebook Challenge group and will check in periodically on the group during their chosen day.

Anticipated 2 hours a week.

Ideal Start Date: 2/10/23

Proposed End Date: 4/5/23
