LOCAL - Disaster Services: Financial and Statistical Information Team Member
This position supports the Greater New York Region Disaster Cycle Services department. The purpose of this position is to perform Financial and Statistical Information readiness and capacity building activities needed to enable effective service delivery to the thousands of households each year who experience a local emergency such as a residential fire, flood or building vacate. This year alone we've provided support for up to 10,000 households.

Key Responsibilities
This behind-the-scenes opportunity mobilizes the knowledge and skills of a (retired) seasoned financial professional who is adept at reconciling invoices.
Your volunteer efforts will help us meet the immediate disaster-caused needs of individuals, families and communities while maintaining good working relationships with the dozens of hotels in our region who help us provide temporary shelter for clients.
- Timely and accurate hotel Invoice reconciliation helps to maintain a strong working relationship with the various city agencies and hotel partners we work with.
- There is a high volume of invoices to process on a weekly and ongoing basis.
- Maintain consistent communication with team members and manager regarding work that has been completed and work that needs to be assigned.
- All invoices are online; we are paperless.

Relationships
Volunteers will work with the:
- Regional Director, Fiscal controls, Contracts and Reporting
- Regional Reporting Manager
- NYC Housing Reporting Manager
- The executive assistant to the Disaster Cycle Services Director and External Affairs Director
- Other FSI volunteers
Training
Total training time can be up to 6 hours to review policies and procedures.

- Disaster Services Overview
Additional courses can be assigned as volunteer progresses through training.
Qualifications
Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities.
- The processing of invoices is a required skill, knowledge of accounting is helpful.
- Must have a very strong data processing skillset.
- Must have reliable internet connectivity.
- Experience with invoicing & platforms like Concur, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with working collaboratively in virtual environment will help with creating a strong team dynamic.
- The ability to follow and implement requests received from supervisor with little or no supervision.
- The ability to build effective relationships with others who can help with work related goals.
- Must be sensitive in human interactions to diversity inclusiveness.
Time Commitment
- Two 8-hours shifts per week or up to 16 hours per week. Final schedule can be negotiated with manager.
- Total training time can be up to 6 hours to review policies and procedures.
- Work can be done any day of the week however consistency of schedule is key to success.
