NHQ:COMM - Volunteer Engagement Lead
This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Communications (COMM) department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The Volunteer Engagement Lead provides leadership, guidance and coaching to volunteers to support their work. They also support the Multicultural team managing virtual volunteers and their assigned projects and support the Volunteer Engagement Cycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify volunteer resource needs for the Multicultural team and participate in the Volunteer Needs Assessment process.
- Be knowledgeable about standard tables of organization and position descriptions.
- Share information and feedback on the volunteer recruitment plan.
- Support the management process of volunteer referrals and interviews.
- Provide guidance and tools to the volunteer network to effectively manage the tasks necessary for their position.
- Provide specific feedback to all the volunteers to improve and grow.
- Coordinates process and resources with the Volunteer Services Volunteer Engagement Lead.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experienced managing and leading virtual teams
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience providing virtual onboarding and training
- Experience with Volunteer Connection
- Proven leadership in nonprofit or for-profit organizations
- Knowledge and understanding of Red Cross services and operations and opportunities for volunteer service
- Understand the value of volunteers and provide leadership and support to ensure volunteers are productive and have a mutually rewarding experience
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
Preferred:
- Relevant, complementary management and/or technical skills/operational experience
- Relationship building skills working collaboratively with staff partners as well as board members, senior management, and other volunteer partners as needed.

Length of Appointment
One year appointment, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance of position
Time Commitment
- General time commitment per week is 3 to 4 hours with a flexible schedule.
