This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services (ISD) and Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually. Put your professional communications skills to work. Enhance workforce engagement of the Red Cross by enabling effective internal communications for the American Red Cross departments of Service to the Armed Force (SAF) and International Services (IS). Lead internal communications plans and approaches to advance workforce engagement objectives. This is a remote (volunteer-from-home) opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, implement and manage a proactive internal communications strategy that advances workforce engagement objectives for both departments, including highlighting people investments, cultivating a sense of team and advancing the desired work culture
  • Develop and oversee execution of a communications plan to regularly engage organizational leaders on upcoming changes and key successes
  • Develop a communications plan to highlight new/updated doctrine and tools
  • Develop and oversee communications plan for niche audiences, such as SAF mobile staff and NHQ operations volunteers
  • Write, create and produce regular content that informs, engages and motivates the workforce
  • Advise departments on how to improve recurring staff engagement forums
  • Draft messages or presentations from executive director to advance communications objectives

Qualifications

Required

 

  • Experience developing and/or executing internal communications plans and/or strategies
  • Experience contributing to improved team cohesion and work culture through internal communications improvements
  • Ability to clearly explain complex issues
  • Able to communicate well with a range of different people
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually

 

Preferred

  • Good project management skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Proficient in internal communications channels and tools
