This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services (ISD) and Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually. Put your professional HR skills to work by enable workforce engagement for the American Red Cross departments of Service to the Armed Force (SAF) and International Services (IS). Key Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term strategies to promote desired culture and increase workforce engagement
  • Develop and execute annual activities to increase workforce engagement and culture
  • Monitor employee and volunteer engagement trends; facilitate creation of scorecard to monitor trends over time. Facilitate conversations with team leads to discuss workforce engagement trends and actions that are required at a department level to address challenges
  • Provide team leads with the tools and knowledge they need to foster and promote workforce engagement within their own teams
  • Based on data and insights, make recommendations to enhance the employee and volunteer experience
  • Support departments in defining our culture and regularly assess role of management approaches in reinforcing the culture
  • Advise on workforce recognition programs, exploring where possible opportunities to offer friendly competitions to build team spirit and reinforce strategic priorities and/or Red Cross values
  • Advise on way to leverage onboarding and internal communications processes to improve overall workforce engagement and reinforce workforce culture

Qualifications

Required

 

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Experience developing and/or executing workforce engagement strategies and programs
  • Experience improving team cohesion and work culture
  • Ability to engage, influence and negotiate with different stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and creativity
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.

 

Preferred

  • Good planning project management skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
  • A strong understanding and experience of working in large/matrixed organizations, balancing multiple stakeholder needs

Length of Appointment

Minimum 1 year commitment, renewable

Time Commitment

40 hours per month, including at least 2 hours per week between 11-6 Eastern
