This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Service Department (ISD) International Disaster Response Roster team. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually. The ISD Engagement, Learning, and Culture Volunteer will curate, ideate, design, and implement creative solutions around team engagement, learning and improvement, and overall culture in a supportive, flexible, and growth-oriented space. A key highlight of this role is its flexibility and openness to support newer workstreams based on the interest, value addition, and availability of the Volunteer involved. Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, problem-solving, and infectious and uplifting energy can go a long way in supporting this role

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on existing platforms to fulfill team needs around content (all forms I.e., visual, audio, written), knowledge management, communication, and learning.
  • Explore, test, and introduce newer platforms which can improve accessibility, efficiency, visual coherence, or communication around existing workflows and team dynamics.
  • Explore, ideate, and implement exciting new ideas to engage with the Roster members to keep them informed, satisfied, and excited about existing and upcoming initiatives.
  • Facilitate and support learning needs for the Roster members (and the team at large) in line with strategic goals through engagement focused, mentally stimulating experiences.
  • Take charge of self-growth with a keen and curious interest in newer (related and unrelated) workflows and explore untapped avenues for overall team and workflow improvement on any possible fronts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience using tech platforms for creating content, learning, and engagement experiences (e.g. Canva, PowerPoint, Mentimeter, Photoshop, Prezi)
  • Experience designing, implementing, and facilitating engagement and learning focused sessions and solutions
  • Experience creating and rolling out communications for (internal and external) organizational needs
  • Comfortable using communication platforms to manage work (such as Outlook, Teams, Zoom and telephone)
  • Comfortable exploring and learning new platforms and approaches for engagement and communication with the desired audience
  • Aesthetic vision and a coherent approach to create and improvise a range of content to fit an equally broad range of needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and nonverbal communication skills both in individual and team settings.
  • Upbeat, contagious, and uplifting energy to complement learning and engagement activities.
  • Keen and open interest in exploring the unknown and keeping tabs on what and how things can be different and better
  • Strong attention-to-detail.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit or for-profit organizations.
  • A creative self-starter who can successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Passion for the Red Cross mission and a commitment to Red Cross values.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a remote (volunteer from home) environment
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.

  • American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation
  • Appropriate On the Job Training as needed
