This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services (ISD) department, specifically the Restoring Family Links (RFL) Program. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually. The Restoring Family Links program helps reconnect families separated by war, disaster, and migration. The Virtual Event Coordination Volunteer will support the RFL Lead Caseworker by planning, coordinating, promoting and executing internal and external virtual events in coordination with the Lead Caseworker. Events may include one monthly RFL Forum, speakers panels of varying topics and RFL focused webinars as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage audience during virtual events, including Q&A sessions and questions coming through the chat.
  • Moderate panel discussions when necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in International conflict and migration.
  • Identify potential guest speakers and maintain record of outreach contacts.
  • Prepare surveys; as well as gather and analyze survey feedback to plan future events.
  • Conduct research on potential event topics.
  • Seek new opportunities for virtual events which can broaden the reach of the RFL program internally and externally.
  • Research and identify relevant virtual events which could be useful forums for American Red Cross participation

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience planning, coordinating and executing online events
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Background in International affairs or refugee/migration fields
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proficiency with meeting hosting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
  • Project Management skills
  • Highly organized 
  • Comfortable working in a small, remote team and in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually.
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.

Preferred

  • Previous communications/marketing experience
  • Previous experience managing speaker panels or speakers bureaus
  • Enjoys networking with multiple internal and external partners

Training

International Services provides standard orientation to the American Red Cross and International Services Department (ISD).

Restoring Family Links overview and training provided through a combination of self-paced online trainings and virtual meetings with RFL team members.
