NHQ:ESG - Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) - Sustainability Analyst

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) department. This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home) position The Sustainability Analyst will provide data management and analysis support to the Sustainability Office in developing and maintaining an organizational environmental and carbon footprint, including our greenhouse gas inventory.

Key Responsibilities

The Sustainability Analyst will assist the Chief Sustainability Officer, the Sr. Director, Sustainability and ESG and other Sustainability team members in the following:

  • Managing and streamlining data collection and data management processes that support the development and maintenance of an organizational environment footprint and greenhouse gas inventory.
  • Analyzing, tracking, and reporting environmental data to identify gaps and develop strategic impact reduction initiatives with internal stakeholders.  
  • Managing the annual greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations, serving as a key point of contact for Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation. Updating and maintaining carbon emissions inventory process methodology.
  • Developing corporate wide tools/guidance on environmental initiatives such as our climate commitments and targets for national and regional environmental leads.

Qualifications

Required

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in environmental science, data science, or related field
  • Experience and a strong personal interest in sustainability, climate change, and/or ESG programs
  • Experience with environmental data collection, analysis, reporting and impact reduction
  • Familiarity with concepts and processes for carbon accounting and/or greenhouse gas inventories
  • Familiarity with climate and environmental reporting standards including Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP).
  • Strong data science, management, analysis, and visualization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

Preferred

  • 2-5 years of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting experience Master’s degree in environmental sciences, data science, or relevant sciences
  • Experience using ArcGIS and/or other geospatial visualization tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and/or other business intelligence (BI) tools

Training

Basic orientation to Red Cross Greenhouse Gas Protocol training

Minimum 1 year commitment, renewable

Time Commitment

4-8 hours per week

 

Availability during business hours will be required, though the majority of work should be able to be accomplished during evenings and weekends, if desired.
