NHQ:IT - End User Services: Cross-Functional Services Volunteer
This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Information Technology (IT) unit. This opportunity requires participation in in-person activities and/or perform work in a Red Cross facility. The Cross-Functional Services volunteer supports the selection, planning, delivery, and support of IT services needed to deliver Red Cross mission, business administration and staff services. Our goal is to improve efficiency, achieve predictable service levels and provide accurate and timely management information. We offer services and enterprise solutions for IT Asset Management, Service Desk, Operations, End User and Application Support teams and facilitate effective IT solution and service delivery, support, and change. This position can be performed from any location with phone, computer, and internet access.

- Testing Support/Technical Writing:
- Develop test plans/procedures, test summary reports, and coordinate testing activities.
- Develop and maintain design specifications and internal procedures.
- Asset and Configuration Management o Asset lifecycle support
- Configuration Item (CI) maintenance
- Change Management:
- Process maintenance and support
- Change record maintenance and support
Qualifications
Required:
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical writing for Computer Systems/IT processes
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in API, Computer System Designs and Architectures
- Excellent communicator
- Self-starter; interested in learning new things.
- Ability to work independently, or as part of a team and deliver to agreed-upon schedules.
- Knowledge of and experience with modern computer systems designs and architectures.
- Reliable computer and internet service

Training
American Red Cross Orientation
Volunteer will receive hands on training from IT EUS Cross-Functional Services
Development Opportunities
There are multiple opportunities to grow with IT EUS Cross-Functional Services.
Length of Appointment
Minimum 6-12 months with reappointment as mutually agreed.
Time Commitment
Requires approximately 10 hours per week, with core availability during regular business hours, 8am-5pm Eastern, Monday-Friday when most IT work is performed. Schedule is flexible - but must be able to participate in core meetings and communicate/adhere to a dependable schedule. Although there may be occasional requests for after-hours or weekend work, volunteers who are only available evenings and weekends would not be an appropriate fit for this position.
