NHQ:BSI - Instructional Designer

This position supports the NHQ BSI team with web-based instructional design for DST volunteers and for other groups, teams, or departments as assigned. This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home opportunity). This position will support the NHQ DST team with web-based instructional design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize storyboard layouts to create web-based trainings.
  • Utilize one or more of the following course creation software tools: - Articulate software apps, especially (but not exclusively) Rise app - EdApp for microlearning and gamification elements
  • Enter volunteer hours in Volunteer Connection at least monthly, preferably weekly
  • Weekly check-in call (30-min) with supervisor/manager (unless on temporary leave)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually including home computer with reliable internet access 
  • Set up access to Microsoft Teams for participation in virtual meetings 
  • Experience creating courses using Articulate software within the Rise App preferred and EdApp microlearning authoring app 
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Quick learner
  • Experience with instructional design and creating web-based, interactive, self-study courses 
  • Experience and understanding of training development principles Willingness to use and maintain a Red Cross email account to access to needed work files on OneDrive/Sharepoint 
  • Eager to learn 
  • Ability to work independently but also ask for help when needed
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
