If you are a Clinically Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioner, we have incredible virtual volunteer experiences available to you. These opportunities are a great way to gain unique direct services experience and CEU’s. There are a couple of different ways that you can use your licensure and background of serving the community depending on the population you are interested in serving and your time availability.

Key Responsibilities

Examples of these opportunities include:

  • Resiliency Workshop Facilitator: Teach resiliency skills to our military community through three impactful programs-Coping with Deployments, Reconnection Workshops, and Mind-Body Workshops. These confidential small-group workshops aim to help improve coping abilities, communication skills and personal wellness strategies to address the challenges and stress of military life and reintegration with family and community. Build relationships with local veteran agencies that have an audience that could benefit from these workshops.
  • Disaster Mental Health Team: Be a part of a team of licensed mental health volunteers that support disaster responders and disaster survivors before, during, and after disasters large and small using trauma-informed care and people focused services. Develop partnerships with and a working knowledge of local agencies that clients can be referred to for long-term recovery support.

 

Length of Appointment

6 months- 1 year

Training

Requirement: For Service to the Armed Forces Resiliency Workshop Facilitator- Training will take place over the three dates listed below via Zoom.  Trainings will start at approximately 8:00 am each day. (Please note the time may be adjusted for a later start time due to applicants joining from the Pacific Islands).  All participants are required to be present for the entire time of their training.

  • Thursday, February 18th– 8:00 am to 5:00 pm – Adult Reconnection Workshop Training
  • Friday, February 19th - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm – Mind/Body Workshop Training
  • Saturday, February 20th Saturday 20 February – 8:00 am to 3:00 pm – Child/Teen Workshop Training

We understand that this is a lot of time to be in front of a screen. We will be providing frequent breaks, including a break for lunch throughout the training sessions.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Requires strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work directly with others
  • Desire to work in the community
  • Ability to show initiative, communicate and work well with others
  • Flexible; easily adapt to surroundings and tasks
  • Ability to interact effectively with culturally diverse audiences
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
  • This work requires access to a phone and computer.

Master’s level or higher mental health professional with independent, clinical and unencumbered license in one of the following disciplines: Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, School Counseling/Psychology; Nursing (APN or CS in Mental Health area; RN’s who are board certified in Psy/MH).

For Disaster Mental Health Professionals- retired mental health professionals who meet the above criteria and maintained a license/certification in good standing upon retirement without any disciplinary action taken by the issuing US state or territory licensing or certification board.
