NHQ:Finance - Service to Armed Forces Finance Case Sampling Volunteer
This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Finance Service to Armed Forces (SAF) team. This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. This position supports SAF Finance in ensuring standardized services and adherence with fiscal controls in the issuance of financial assistance to eligible service members (and their immediate family members) in partnership with Military Aid Societies (MAS). Assistance can include funds for emergency travel, burial of a loved one, emergency food and shelter, etc. Verification of financial controls and related monitoring will be accomplished using tools, checklists, processes, and procedures of the American Red Cross.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform review and monitoring on cases with direct financial client assistance to validate compliance with program guidance.
- Confirm or document case elements such as event verification, client qualification, and adherence to assistance level guidelines.
- Identify, document, and report any cases needing corrections.
- Work collaboratively virtually with other monitoring team members to identify trends or process issues impacting the control environment.
- Meet established timeline requirements for task completion
Qualifications
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in finance, accounting, financial controls, or related field required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, as wells as file sharing and web browsing, is required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to prioritize and meet established deadlines required.
- Flexibility and versatility in an ever-changing environment required
- Access to a computer, phone, and reliable internet required
- Experience with financial compliance activities is preferred.
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

Length of Appointment
6-month minimum commitment, preferably up to one year, renewable as mutually agreed.
Time Commitment
4 - 8 hours weekly with some hours during regular business hours M – F, 9am – 5pm Eastern for initial training and periodic team calls
