DIV:VS - Division Volunteer Services Volunteer Connection Lead (North Central)

This position supports the regional Volunteer Services Volunteer Connection (VCN) teams by providing guidance and support in the proper and maximized utilization of VCN. This position collaborates with the Division VCN Leads, with support from National Volunteer Services, to execute the Volunteer Services VCN Support Program. This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home opportunity).

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a champion of Volunteer Connection (VCN).
  • Provide guidance and support to regional and divisional Volunteer Services (VS) teams in the proper and maximized utilization of Volunteer Connection
  • As a leader, determine the proper course of action on Volunteer Connection questions and issues, which could include where to redirect the requestor to for assistance.
  •  Attend weekly meetings with Division VCN leads; participate in VCN projects that support VCN training materials and grow VCN understanding across regional teams
  • Be a voice for the Regional Volunteer Services (RVS) VCN teams in advocating for improvements that support Volunteer Connection.
  • Lead monthly meetings for regional VS VCN teams; build PowerPoint presentations that include VCN updates and learning exercises.
  • Partner with NHQ Volunteer Services on VCN communications including code releases and product enhancements.
  • Conduct Volunteer Connection training, using official American Red Cross training materials for volunteers and volunteer supervisors.
  • Provide leadership and delegation to team members if necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Relationship-building skills working collaboratively with staff/volunteer partners
  • Prior experience using Volunteer Connection administrative functions
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to explain the complexities of Volunteer Connection functions to a non-technical audience
  • Strong computer skills and comfortable learning new systems
  • Comfortable with Microsoft suite
  • Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Red Cross mission and programs and understands the value of volunteers
  • Proven leadership experience including working with diverse audiences
  • Work well both individually and with others
  • Independently driven and well-organized
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

Length of Appointment

One year appointment, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance of position

Time Commitment

Approximately 4-8 hours per week, with most availability during traditional business hours of division, Monday-Friday.

Including attendance of these standing meetings:

  • Weekly Division VCN Leads call (currently Fridays at 1pm ET)
  • Monthly VCN Office Hour (currently 2ndTues at 2pm ET)
  • Monthly regional VCN lead calls (typically the 4th Wed & Thurs of the month)
