**COVID-19 Disaster Reserve** Disaster Health Services Supervisor (RN LPN LVN EMT MD DO PA NP APRN)
Disaster Health Services Supervisor is a temporary position assigned to work in person before, during and/or after a disaster event this hurricane/wildfire season. The purpose of this role is to lead a team of Disaster Health Services responders to provide health services care to shelter clients. This role will act as the liaison from the Disaster Health Services team to the shelter manager. Advocacy for client needs is a primary purpose of this role.

- Act as liaison for DHS team with shelter manager
- Assist DHS service associates with documentation and data gathering (including C-MIST interview).
- Communicate access and functional needs of clients to shelter manager
- Provide hands on care as necessary, including assistance with activities of daily living, wound care, incontinence care, health assessments, health education, and determination that a higher level of care is needed for client
- Observation and health screening for COVID-19 like illness for all shelter clients daily
- Lead the management of an isolation care area.
- Complete required virtual self-paced training for position (8 hours total)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A current, unencumbered license in at least one of the following
professions:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)*
- Paramedic*
- Medical Doctor (MD)
- Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
- Physician Assistant (PA)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Willing and able to work in person in a COVID -19 disaster shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event
- Availability to sign up for shifts on consecutive days (shifts may be 4, 8 or 12 hours long)
- Willing to complete 8 hours of virtual self-paced training required for position
- Experience as a charge nurse, EMS team lead or physician
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
Training
Required (part of onboarding)
- Disaster Health Services Fundamentals 1 – WBT 1 hour
- Disaster Health Services Fundamental 2 – WBT 1 hour
- Recovery Fundamentals – WBT 2 hours
- CAS for DHS and DMH Teams – 12 minutes VID
- Everyone is Welcome - WBT 45 minutes or VILT 1 hour
- Supervising the Disaster Workforce, operational version – VID 1 hour (includes ConOps 3.0)
- Congregate Sheltering Activities in COVID-19 Environment – VID 20 minutes
Total Training Time: 6 hours 30 minutes, or 7 hours 45 minutes
Additional Training Requirements for SAs and SV s willing to deploy outside their region
- Deployment Fundamentals – WBT 30 min
- Mission Cards – Cardholder Overview – VID 15 min
Total Training Time: 45 min minutes

Length of Appointment
- The COVID-19 Disaster Reserve is active during this disaster/wildfire season, anticipated to extend until the end of the year
- Reserve volunteers will have the opportunity to remain active with the Red Cross after the season
Time Commitment
*IMPORTANT* This is a reserve appointment
Upon joining the COVID-19 Disaster Reserve, the only immediate time commitment is to complete your training online, approximately 7 hours.
Activation and Deployment
- In case of a large scale disaster, the COVID-19 Disaster Reserve will be activated with an email or text message notification to all responders.
- Sign-up to assignments will be opened immediately.

- Minimum commitment for local deployment is five (5) non-consecutive days
- Minimum commitment for divisional deployment (more than 50 miles from your home of record) is fourteen (14) consecutive days from activation including travel
