This position will act as a team leader for volunteer referral management within Workforce Planning. The Volunteer Referral Manager will provide guidance and coaching to the team that supports this work. All communications are handled via a shared mailbox. This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Workforce Planning team. This is a remote (volunteer-from-home) opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of volunteers to manage shared mailbox responsibilities around volunteer referral management
  • Support an end to end process where department interviews and accepts or rejects the volunteer referral within seven days by the volunteer supervisor
  • Be knowledgeable about standard tables of organization and positions open for recruitment in Workforce Planning
  • Support guidance and tools for the volunteer supervisors to effectively manage the tasks necessary for the position
  • Support coaching and guidance that supports supervisors in creating a healthy environment for the volunteers to excel in their role
  • Be cognizant of rolling deadlines

Qualifications

  • Relationship building skills working collaboratively with paid staff and volunteer staff as needed (Required)
  • Supervision experience Required
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining an up to date tracking system that utilizes multiple systems (Required)
  • Proven leadership in nonprofit or for-profit organizations (Required)
  • Understand the value of volunteers and provide leadership and support to ensure volunteers are productive and have a mutually rewarding experience (Required)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools (Required)
  • High Volume shared mailbox experience (Required)
  • Cultural sensitivity to diverse audiences (Required)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Red Cross services and operations and opportunities for volunteer service (Preferred)
  • Work well both individually and with others (Required)
  • This position can be performed from any location with phone (to include long distance), computer and reliable internet access
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually

Length of Appointment

6-month minimum commitment, renewable as mutually agreed.

Time Commitment

Approximately 5-10 hours per week, working remotely, but could vary depending on department workload. Some of the hours will be between the hours of 9-5 M-F Eastern time zone, the rest are flexible.
