This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services Department (ISD). This is a 100% remote (volunteer-from-home) position. The Volunteer Partner to the Director of Quality, Data and Learning (QDL) for International Services and Service to the Armed Forces (SAF), supports learning and knowledge management for International Services. This involves a combination of the following: research and development of appropriate adult pedagogy and learning concepts to promote learning in the department, production of key documentation and knowledge management products for International Services, development of QDL’s SharePoint sites for knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and study of adult learning methods that facilitate the uptake of learning for all International Services Department (ISD) staff.
  • Development of standards for knowledge management resources to improve the quality of knowledge products produced by ISD.
  • Assist ISD staff in the development of key knowledge products according to standards developed.
  • Develop strategy for development of ISD Intranet / SharePoint sites, in line with American Red Cross standards, with the expressed objective of improving ISD’s use of collaborative learning tools.
  • Participate in the development of use cases and business requirements for ISD SharePoint sites, according to the standard developed. 
  • The partner will attend monthly QDL team calls, as well as project specific calls as required.


Required Qualifications:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Solid experience in a combination of the following: adult learning and facilitation, and fast-moving change management initiatives, preferably within large/complex organizations.
  • Creative, contemporary design skills that can be bought to bear in the production of key knowledge products (documents, presentations) as well as enterprise content management systems/intranet.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills that allow you to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas.
  • Project management skills.
  • A creative self-starter who is able to successfully triage competing requests and manage multiple priorities.
  • Passion for the Red Cross mission and a commitment to Red Cross values. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Successful experience and participation in large teams of smart, driven people.
  • Cross-cultural experience, particularly Asia and Latin American.
  • Fluency in Spanish. 

Time Commitment

  • Minimum of 10 hours/week averaging 40 hours/month.
  • Must be available at least 2.5 hours per week during business hours, other hours flexible.
