Disaster Services: Respond as a Disaster Action Team to provide immediate support to people affected by home fires and other disasters
Help us to deliver our lifesaving mission of alleviating human suffering caused by disasters. We need help around the clock to ensure those affected by disaster, particularly home fires, have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.

Key Responsibilities
- Willingness to support Red Cross mission while maintaining professionalism and conduct as stated in the Red Cross policy
- Disaster Action Team volunteers sign up for "on-call" shifts and once they are activated, they arrive at the scene of home fires and other disasters within two hours of notification. (Volunteers decide on-call availability for themselves)
- Ability to work well with others and on a team
- Communicates availability to Disaster Action Team coordinator on a regular basis
- Attends regularly scheduled volunteer/Disaster Action Team meetings
Time Commitment
Varies. Volunteer provides schedule of availability.
Development Opportunities
With additional training there are opportunities for individual and leadership development to serve as:
-DAT Service Associate on a DAT response.
-DAT Team Leader in support of the DAT preparedness.
-DAT Supervisor on a DAT response.
Additional training is available across all service lines to orient volunteer to additional activities and opportunities within the Red Cross.
Qualifications
Ability to:
- Follow and execute requests received from supervisor with little or no supervision.
- Adapt to change, negotiate compromise and tolerate ambiguity.
- Build effective relationships with others who can help with work-related goals.
Team member may work towards the DAT Service Associate response position.
