This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Division (DIV) Volunteer Services (VS) department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. In partnership with the Division Volunteer Services Executive, the Division Volunteer Services Engagement Lead oversees Volunteer engagement strategies, tactics and metrics related to "The Volunteer Experience". This position will serve as a subject matter expert in engagement and assist in the implementation of strategic volunteer engagement by collaborating with national and regional engagement teams. In partnership with the Division Volunteer Services Executive they will help leverage and implement a "best practices" approach. They serve as a resource for Regional Volunteer Services Officers, regional Engagement Specialists, and regions' Volunteer Engagement Leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhances the Volunteer Engagement strategy for the assigned division.
  • Utilizes data related to metrics and performance indicators to evaluate and enhance engagement plans and strategies
  • Consults with regions related to plans and metrics regarding position on-boarding, planned growth experiences, effective ongoing volunteer engagement, volunteer satisfaction, and volunteer career development.
  • Partners with the DVSE to collaborate with NHQ Volunteer Services, DVSEs and other Divisions on identifying needs, best practices and challenges; works with DVSE to recommend, implement and evaluate strategies for effective engagement.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on volunteer engagement
  • Leads ongoing discussions with regional volunteer engagement teams regarding engagement cycle, roles and responsibilities; helps to identify what’s working and lessons learned.

Qualifications

  • Available 10 hours per month during business hours ET, required
  • Previous experience as a Red Cross employee or volunteer, required
  • Knowledge, understanding and enthusiasm of Red Cross services and operations and opportunities for volunteer service, required
  • Experience supporting or leading volunteer engagement initiatives, required
  • Experience with data analysis, required
  • Experience with relationship building and collaboration across teams, required
  • Cultural sensitivity to diverse audiences, required
  • Understand the value of volunteers and provide leadership and support to ensure volunteers are productive and have a mutually rewarding experience, required
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal), required
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft programs including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, required
  • Workforce management experience including recruitment and/or engagement, preferred 
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
