This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Corporate Finance. This is a 100% remote volunteer-from-home opportunity. This position is part of the General Accounting division of the Financial Shared Services Center (FSS) located in Charlotte, NC. FSS is a centralized process center for key accounting and purchasing functions and supports all Red Cross locations. This position is responsible for working with the credit card reconciliation staff to research and process requested credit card refunds.

Key Responsibilities
- Process Training Services related PayPal refunds through the PayPal portal
- Research and process Training Services refund requests in Cybersource
- Manually update transaction ID numbers within the Trintech ReconNET software to match related transactions
- Update expense and revenue general ledger account numbers (self-reconcile) as needed on Donation, Training Services and Disaster transaction to reconcile items in ReconNET without an offset
- Research and process credit card chargebacks in Paymentech, AMEX, PayPal
- Research donation reconciliation exceptions and upload adjustments to SharePoint.
Qualifications
ALL REQUIRED
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Accounting/Finance education and/or experience
- Intermediate Excel and SharePoint experience
- Computer skills including utilizing MS Teams
- Ability to work independently
- Access to a computer, phone, and reliable internet service
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

Time Commitment
6-10 hours per week. Generally, 2 - 4 hours are needed daily, Monday - Friday because listings are produced daily and related tasks have a deadline of 12-48 hours or sometimes before the next business day. There is some flexibility to work hours at your convenience as long as the task is completed by the established deadline.
Must have some availability within the timeframe of Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST for initial training and regular discussions with Financial Shared Services team members.
The workload is cyclical and heaviest in the spring and summer months; however, activity occurs throughout the year. Periods of more hours could be needed depending on the seasonal volume.
Development Opportunities
Volunteers will have the opportunity to gain experience in a busy accounting department, customer service skills and organization; while supporting the American Red Cross.
Length of Appointment
Minimum commitment of six months; ongoing need
