NHQ:BIO - BVWE - Drive Diversity Coordinator

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Biomedical Services (BIO) team. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Support Closing the Sickle Cell Gap which is an enterprise-wide campaign to triple the number of African American blood donors by the end of December 2024. This national effort will help the American Red Cross eliminate the gap in our ability to meet hospital demand and provide the most compatible units for patients with sickle cell disease. This role will coordinate the mobilization of the Drive Diversity Advocates who will Support red cell collections from Black donors to provide units needed for patients with sickle cell disease.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in excel to update and manage key reports for the Drive Diversity Advocate program
  • Support the BVWE Operations Team with program enhancements and execution
  • Communicate program updates with the volunteer leaders serving as Drive Diversity Coordinators empowering them to support Drive Diversity Advocate volunteers
  • Communicate program updates with the BVWE team empowering them to support Drive Diversity Advocate volunteers

Qualifications

Required:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills
  • Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds
  • Willingness to learn technology needed for position: Volunteer Connection Database and scheduling tool
  • Experience and comfort using Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Excel and Word
  • Ability to volunteer from home in a remote environment, including reliable access to phone with sufficient minutes
  • Comfort calling and emailing volunteers to encourage them to sign up for blood drive volunteer shifts
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Ability to explain/teach technology to donors and fellow volunteers
  • Ability to regularly commit to schedule and adapt to a change driven culture
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
