NHQ:VS - Volunteer Talent Acquisition (Virtual)

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Volunteer Services (VS) department. The Volunteer Talent Acquisition volunteer matches Red Cross volunteers with volunteer positions based on their interests, skills and experience. This is done through screening calls with the volunteer and includes gathering relevant information about prospective volunteer candidates while assessing which NHQ volunteer positions they are best suited for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews volunteer applications to evaluate if they meet the position requirements.
  • Studies and learns each volunteer position description.
  • Schedules and conducts screening calls with volunteer candidates before referral to departments.
  • Asks identifying questions during the screening call, appropriate to the responsibilities and qualifications for the volunteer position requested to determine if the candidate meets the requirements.
  • Refers or rejects the application submitting the information gathered during the screening call to Volunteer Connection.
  • Provides prospective volunteers with information about the intake, referral and placement process.
  • Supports special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Broad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service - preferred
  • Enthusiasm for American Red Cross programs - required
  • Experience using Volunteer Connection - preferred
  • Comfort using web-based management systems - required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills - required Comfortable making phone calls to volunteers - required
  • Previous HR or interviewing experience - required
  • Able to sit for a minimum of two-hour period - required
  • Able to work for long periods of time on the computer - required
  • Must have reliable access to computer, phone and internet - required
  • Must have some availability during business hours ET - required 

Time Commitment

  • This position averages 15 - 20 hours per week and requires some availability during business hours ET.
  • Team members are assigned new candidates to screen three times per week.
  • Must be able to contact candidates within 1-2 days of assignment.

Length of Appointment

8–12 months appointment, renewable based on mutual agreement.
