NHQ:DCS - Disaster Workforce Readiness - Workforce Engagement Team Member

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) team. This remote position supports a specific DCS unit volunteer supervisor and volunteers to ensure NHQ DCS volunteers receive support and recognition for their contribution; are treated with respect and dignity through collaboration with the NHQ DCS engagement team and the National Volunteer Services office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulates and assists with implementation of the Volunteer Engagement Cycle and the responsibilities of the unit within those steps to the NHQ DCS Unit volunteer supervisor.
  • Using VCN Opportunity Queue acts as initial point of contact for interviewing applicants by scheduling and conducting placement interview over the phone with volunteer applicants as needed and completing VCN data entry.
  • Collaborates with the volunteer's supervisor to complete the NHQ Onboarding Checklist.
  • Performs 30-60-90 days follow-up with volunteers and unit supervisors to ensure proper placement, job satisfaction and integration.
  • Works with NHQ DCS Engagement Lead to create any needed positions within NHQ DCS unit.
  • Works with volunteer supervisors to obtain Volunteer Needs Assessment information and submits to NHQ DCS Engagement Lead every quarter.
  • Advocates for and provides assistance to volunteers whose primary region is NHQ Operations as workforce engagement ensuring engage volunteers and employees doctrine is implemented as written.
  • Conveys the importance of and assists with logging hours in VC or in the VC Mobile App with volunteers.
  • Assists the volunteer supervisor with administrative duties as requested including approving or denying pending hours logged by unit volunteers, sending email, attending conference call meetings, etc.

Qualifications

  • Red Cross volunteer six months or longer - required
  • Red Cross Workforce Engagement experience - preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Cycle, DCS/department responsibilities within the cycle and Engage Volunteers and Employees (EVE) doctrine - required
  • Knowledge of the Volunteer Services volunteer job tools - preferred
  • Proven leadership in nonprofit or for-profit organizations - preferred
  • Prior experience engaging volunteers - preferred

Time Commitment

20 hours per month, some availability during business hours Eastern time required
