This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. The purpose of this position is to perform the Disaster Health Services (DHS) readiness and capacity building activities needed to enable effective service delivery (in a disaster response).

Key Responsibilities

Using professional knowledge and skills, Disaster Health Services workers provide approved Disaster Health Services interventions that provide disaster health care by meeting the disaster-related health needs of clients and providing support to other volunteers.

This position is responsible for supporting and engaging the workers assigned to the team which includes:

  1. Providing supervision including ensuring assigned volunteers are engaged in regional activities by assigning tasks to complete function activities, regular and ongoing communication of opportunities, discussing level of involvement and development, providing timely feedback and coaching;
  2. On boarding volunteers to Disaster Cycle Services and the volunteer's chosen functional area;
  3. Provide training as required for the volunteer's functional area in collaboration with the Disaster Workforce Engagement Team;
  4. Receive recognition for successful completion of tasks; and in collaboration with Disaster Workforce Engagement Team for yearly region recognition;
  5. Provide evaluation of performance in completing assigned tasks and collaborating with Disaster Workforce Engagement Team for yearly evaluation and completion of volunteer's development plan;

Team Leaders are responsible for the overall execution of assigned tasks with may include:

  1. Provide Disaster Health Services interventions to clients impacted by a disaster.
  2. Participate in relevant meetings and activities as a member of the Disaster Health Services chapter team.
  3. Participate in preparedness efforts, such as the Home Fire Campaign or community disaster education.
  4. Help facilitate long-term recovery for clients impacted by disaster.
  5. Assist the chapter in developing partnerships with local healthcare agencies.
  6. Support other disaster responders before, during and after disaster response using staff health strategies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities.
  • Current and unencumbered license as RN, ARNP, NP, LPN, LVN, MD, DO, PA, EMT, Paramedic. RN preferred.
  • Must meet training requirement as Disaster Health Services Service Associate
  • RC Care Access
  • Ability to:
