Regional Disability Integration Team Member- Virtual Position

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. Disability Integration Team Member is a region-level position that serves as a functional lead in disability integration, inclusion, and access and functional needs. This position may fill any function-specific work to meet the Readiness goals of the organization throughout the entire disaster cycle of Prepare, Respond, and Recover. Disability Integration Team Members may support the Regional Lead in the following ways: - Organizing Rosters, meetings and tracking trainings - Onboarding and Training procedures - Facility Surveys - Specific Relationship Management - Resource Gathering - Providing specific subject matter consultation and guidance to regional disaster leadership in planning for and responding to disasters that impact individuals with disabilities and others with access and functional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Functional Support to Regional DI Program Lead as assigned
  • Maintaining clear communication and collaboration with supervisor and peers.
  • Providing accurate reporting of disability integration activity as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities.
  • Experience with the ADA, FHA or other disability related legal documents, preferred
  • Skills or experience working with people with disabilities, preferred
  • Commitment to personal and professional development that supports people with disabilities knowledge, awareness, culture and legal obligations, required
  • Good organizational skills, responsible, and punctual, required
  • Active listening skills, required
  • Ability to implement Standards and Procedures and follow associated job tools including reporting requirements, required

Development Opportunities

Become proficient in Disability Integration entry tasks. Once proficient, career development to supervisory/management positions and ability to go to disaster beyond the region.

GAP opportunities based on performance and proficiency. Team members must hold a position in DI for a minimum of 6 months and achieve satisfactory performance review from their supervisor before achieving the “Service Associate” GAP.

Length of Appointment

Two years with renewal option at recommendation of the Regional Disaster Officer.

Time Commitment

No specific number of hours per month is required of this position, aside from the expectation that it can take eight to 32 hours per month. Most of the day-to-day work of the Region DI Specialist may be done via email and phone.
