To provide first aid and emergency medical assistance to participants and attendees of the Tournament of Roses Parade, ensuring their safety and well-being during the parade and their related events. This position is seasonal and is under the direction of OPS-FAS: First Aid Stations.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up and dismantle first aid stations.
- Administer BLS level of emergency care and first aid
- Assist with patient assessment and provide necessary medical treatment.
- Maintain accurate records of all treatments and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with other medical staff and emergency responders.
- Effectively communicate via hand-held radio to Medical Dispatcher
- Monitor and manage first aid supplies and equipment.
- Complete required orientations, trainings, safety briefings, and station meetings
Qualifications
- Ability to commit to the Time Commitments listed above
- Certification in one of the following (Required):
- American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certificate (AHA not accepted) AND American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen (AEO)
- American Red Cross BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate AND American Red Cross First Aid certificate AND American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen (AEO)
- Active and unencumbered State Medical Licensure (ex. MD, DO, NP, PA, RN, LVN, EMT-P, EMT-B) AND valid BLS certificate (AHA or ARC accepted)
- American Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) with Basic Life Support and Emergency Oxygen Certification
- Valid Annual American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens Training (provided)
- Completed Required ARC EDGE Training (see below requirements)
- Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations effectively.
- Ability to lift/carry 30 lbs. multiple times per shift.
- Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods (2-4 hours) of time.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain and/or walk for multiple miles per shift while carrying equipment.
- Ability to bend or stoop multiple times per shift.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Ability to obtain security clearance if needed for high-security event locations
- Demonstrated active listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with community members in a clear compassionate manner.
- Demonstrated ability to involve appropriate others in managing problems and conflict.
- Experience in providing first aid or emergency medical services is preferred.
- Good organizational skills, responsible and punctual.
- Previous Medical Experience in Emergency Medicine field (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Length of Appointment
3 month commitment, transition to annual Community First Aid Services after completing this project.
Time Commitment
- Complete a mandatory full day of Orientation/Briefing (6-8 hours)
- Attend 1 medical logistics packing event (4 hours) or work 1 pre-parade event shift
- Attend 1 station meeting pre-parade (1-2 hours) - may be virtual/in-person
- Attend parade day shift (12 hours) 4AM – 4PM
