This position leads the region Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) and IS-US outreach program. This opportunity may require participation in in-person activities and/or performing work in an American Red Cross facility. The Lead’s primary role is to engage with the American Red Cross workforce and community partners to champion support to the military community and general public.

Key Responsibilities
The position serves a critical role at the regional level in both leading and promoting the Service to Armed Forces (SAF) and International Services (IS-US) programs through strategic program development, internal and community partnerships, and volunteer workforce management.
This role is a combination of outreach, education, networking, and volunteer management. A volunteer will provide outreach aimed at ensuring that military- connected communities are provided information regarding the resources available through SAF/IS-US programs, the broader public understand the importance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) education and expand Restoring Family Links (RFL) services for clients separated from family members due to conflict, migration, disasters, or other humanitarian crises.
A volunteer will be able to understand the mission of SAF and IS-US programs specifically related to:
- Hero Care Network (HCN)
- Behavioral Health Workshops
- Military Treatment Facility Programs (MTF)
- VA & State Homes Support and Volunteer Programs
- Whole Health
- Military and Veteran Caregiver Network (MVCN)
- International Humanitarian Law (IHL)
- IHL-Youth Action Campaign (YAC)
- Restoring Family Links (RFL)
To be successful in this role, a volunteer will:
- Work with the region leadership to develop a regional program strategy
- Manage a volunteer workforce to develop internal and community partnerships
- Attend coalition and partner meetings
- Develop and maintain partnerships with an internal workforce and key military, veteran, and community organizations/agencies
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Develop and execute an implementation work plan outlining objectives, strategies, and tactics supporting the department priorities. Set realistic targets and focus on delivering results.
- Proactively identify and respond to challenges impacting the department’s priorities with steps to address those challenges
- Identify roles for volunteers based on the implementation plan as well as delegate and mentor volunteers in a supportive manner.
- Design an ongoing succession plan, consistent with the development/training program
- Ability to act independently and with a team
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer to include phone, personal computer and internet connection.
- Ability to analyze data, create reports and evaluate key performance indicators to meet target benchmarks.
- Good computer skills to include use of Internet and Microsoft Office Suite; to include use of databases
- Ability to communicate effectively in a public setting and comfortable presenting to large and small audiences
- Ability to interact effectively with culturally diverse audiences
- Flexible and able to adapt quickly to schedule changes
- Knowledge of American Red Cross policy and willingness to comply with American Red Cross policies and public health requirements.
- Strong knowledge of US military and community resources

- On-the-job training from supervisor
- The following training courses are a part of the onboarding. Courses will provide in-depth training of SAF and IS-US programs to support internal and external partnerships and volunteer workforce development.
