Volunteer Application

Youth Volunteer (Under 18) - Tampa Bay Chapter

Introduction/Description

Thank you for your interest in becoming involved with your local chapter of the American Red Cross of Florida’s West Coast Region.  The American Red Cross provides the premier environment for youth and young adults to learn, practice and exemplify humanitarian values.

Volunteers are the heart of the American Red Cross, and we'd like you to join us. We depend on nearly 1 million volunteers nationwide and thousands in Florida’s West Coast Region to carry out our mission as the world's leading humanitarian relief agency.

As a Red Cross Youth Volunteer, you can develop your leadership qualities and potential. You will be invited to try new things and challenge yourself in self-discovery.  We offer training in teamwork, problem solving, decision making, leadership skills, and communication skills. You can help further the mission of the Red Cross by teaching safety skills and first aid skills to children, representing the Red Cross at community functions and events, assisting with office work and helping to serve Red Cross clients affected by local disasters.

**Community Service Hours Policy **
Volunteers are vital to the American Red Cross.  Therefore, we keep track of all volunteer hours.  Typically, the volunteer work that youth volunteers do for the American Red Cross fulfills most academic community service requirements.  However, requirements vary from program to program and from year to year. It is the responsibility of the youth volunteer to verify in advance whether the volunteer work he/she is doing for the American Red Cross fulfills the requirements for his/her academic programs.
