Maine Region - Youth Volunteer (<18 y.o.)
We believe youth have the potential to make a difference in huge ways. In our eyes, they are a vital resource bringing energy, innovation and inspiration to the American Red Cross and our goal is to provide them with meaningful opportunities for education, training and volunteer service so that they remain a part of the Red Cross family throughout their lives.
If you are currently enrolled in school, we encourage you to start or join a Red Cross Club! Red Cross Clubs are youth service groups that help the organization fulfill its humanitarian mission of preventing, preparing for and responding to emergencies. Working closely with our local chapter and a school advisor, club members participate in Red Cross service projects that help their schools, their communities and the world.

IF YOU ARE 18 OR OVER, PLEASE RETURN TO OUR VOLUNTEER PAGE AND SELECT GENERAL VOLUNTEER, ADULT (18 AND OVER)
PLEASE USE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AS YOUR USERNAME; AS PART OF AN UPCOMING UPGRADE, ALL USERNAMES WILL SHORTLY BE CHANGED TO EMAILS OF RECORD, SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL START OUT THAT WAY
IMPORTANT: THE PAGE BELOW ONLY CREATES YOUR ACCOUNT IN THE AMERICAN RED CROSS VOLUNTEER CONNECTION SYSTEM; PLEASE FINISH THE ADDITIONAL STEPS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GUIDANCE BELOW:
1. After you submit the information below, the system sends you an email. You MUST follow that link to activate your account, so you can complete your application. Please view THIS VIDEO to see how to activate your account after you submit the application below [As of December 19, 2015, the appearance of the Prospective Volunteer Homepage has changed from what is shown in the video, but the principles are the same].
2. After you activate your account and log in, you will see a checklist you must complete as part of your application; your application will not be forwarded for consideration for specific opportunities until you complete the steps in the checklist that are up to you. The checklist is at the bottom of the page; please click on each item in blue font to begin the step. You will need to complete all the blue items before we can forward your application. The entire application takes around 1 to 1-1/2 hours and can be broken into smaller pieces; most of the individual steps in the checklist only take a few minutes. The "Online Orientation" step takes approximately 45 minutes in total, but that can be broken down into segments (more details on the time breakdown will appear in the instructions for this step after you click on it in your checklist).
3. You may not be able to complete the application on a computer device using iOS (iPhone or iPad). We've had reports of difficulties with the orientation videos and background check parts. If you have trouble with this, please complete your application using a different platform.
