Language Bank Interpretation Request

Thank you for requesting an interpretation through the American Red Cross Language Bank. The Language Bank provides in-person and over-the-phone interpretation as well as written translations for individuals and community-based partner agencies. Please fill out the following information to request services and a Language Bank administrator will follow up with you within 1 business day. Legal and Medical Interpretation Policy

The Language Bank is unable to provide medical or legal interpreters because of liability reasons. Please contact languagebank@redcross.org for referral to other agencies that do provide interpretation that is medical or legal in nature.

 
  • Volunteer Interpreters

Our volunteers are trained in the practice and ethics of interpretation. Keep in mind that as a Language Bank client, when you request an interpreter, you are giving our interpreters an opportunity to volunteer. Our volunteers take cases based on their availability and level of interest. Completion of a request cannot be guaranteed until a volunteer has taken the case.

 
  • Urgent Case Requests

We understand that last minute case requests might be necessary when an urgent matter arises. We are sometimes able to accommodate these requests. However, this availability is highly variable and it is always a good idea to know of alternate resources available to provide immediate language assistance.
