Driver Vehicle Inspection Report-HS

As part of the updated FLEET policy, it is REQUIRED to complete the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report(DVIR) EACH TIME a vehicle is used.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Operations.

Fleet Manual Policy Points of Conduct

  • All drivers will adhere to ALL applicable state and federal laws and American Red Cross (ARC)-specific policies.
  • All drivers will maintain a valid driver’s license from the state in which they reside.
  • All drivers will report to their immediate supervisor within 24 hours of any suspensions, restrictions, or revocations of their driver's license.
  • All drivers will immediately notify their supervisor if involved in an incident/accident or if receiving a citation while operating a vehicle in service to Red Cross.
  • All drivers will notify their supervisor when their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle is impaired by prescribed or over-the-counter medication, illness, or injury.
  • The driver and all occupants are required to wear seat belts when the vehicle is in operation.
  • All drivers are responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition prior to driving.  Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) must be completed.
  • No staff while operating an ARC vehicle, or while driving a personal vehicle on ARC business, may use hand-held communication devices or other hand-held mobile electronic devices.
  • All drivers are responsible for ensuring upon their return, the vehicle is fueled, garbage is removed and the vehicle is clean inside and out.
  • All vehicles are to be locked whenever the vehicle is parked.
  • The driver is responsible to secure the vehicle and to take appropriate steps to minimize risk to the vehicle.  For example, valuables should not be left in clear view. 
  • Vehicles should not be left unattended while running.
  • Element fuel cards and vehicle registrations & insurance will be kept in the vehicles at all times in a clearly designated envelope for easy access.
