Kern County Stand Down on Thursday, October 14, 2021

 

California Veterans Assistance Foundation (CVAF)  will be hosting the 22sd  Annual Kern County Veteran Stand Down on Thursday, October 14th, 2021.

The event will be held at Stramler Park, 3805 Chester Avenue, Bakersfield.

The Stand Down is a safe retreat for all veterans, including homeless veterans, to receive supportive services to renew their spirit, health, and overall sense of well being. The program is successful because it brings these services to one location, making them more accessible to Kern County's homeless veterans.

 

We need your help! We need volunteers the day before (10/13/2021) from 1 pm to 5 pm to assist with set up in addition to our volunteer needs the day of (10/14/2021) from 5 am to 5 pm. Any amount of your personal time will be appreciated. Please specify the date(s) you are willing to volunteer as well as the start and end times for each day.  

Volunteers are needed on 10/13/2021 for:

  • Site set up
  • Clothing sorting

Volunteers are needed on 10/14/2021 for:

  • Registration
  • Kitchen from 5 am to 11 am
  • Clothing department
  • In the park to help guide and serve our veterans
  • Clean up from 3 pm to 6 pm
  • And more…………

  • I have received training and I understand that I am expected to abide by the policies, rules, guidelines and procedures discussed in the volunteer manual.

Insurance Acknowledgement

I, the undersigned Volunteer acknowledge that my personal medical/automobile insurance is primary.  If any medical diagnosis, treatment or hospital care is deemed advisable by or administered by a duly licensed physician in the event of an emergency or injury while volunteering for CVAF and such help becomes necessary my primary insurance will be utilized.  By signing, I acknowledge that my activities on behalf of CVAF are strictly voluntary and that I have no expectation of payment for my services, or of future employment.

Privacy Statement

Your privacy is important to us.  The information you provide when register with CVAF will only be shred with our insurance company as it pertains to our policy. 

Photo Release

I give my permission to CVAF, to use any photo, video, Facebook or likeness of me to promote Stand Down.  I will receive no compensation for use of my likeness
