• Description THS-Red Cross Club. Statement of purpose: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The American Red Cross- through its strong network of volunteers, donors, and partners-is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that: 1. All people affected by disasters across the country and around the world receive care, shelter, and hope. 2. Our communities are ready and prepared for disasters. 3. Everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products. 4. All members of our armed forces and their families find support and comfort whenever needed. 5. In an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives. The THS-Red Cross Club will be an extension of the local Red Cross Unit. The THS-Red Cross Club intends to offer Teaneck High School students an opportunity for training and leadership development. Students will have an opportunity to choose mission-related activities that address Teaneck's community‘s needs while delivering the life-saving services of the Red Cross. The THS-Red Cross Club will plan and implement projects that will save lives from blood drives to disaster preparedness education.
